One in 20,000: an Albino Black Tailed Deer (October, 2025)

Defined by a complete lack of melanin, albinism is exceptionally rare in the animal kingdom. Albino births of black tailed deer are estimated to occur only once in every 20,000 to 100,000. Due to the total absence of natural camouflage, the individual faces extreme vulnerability to local predators and environmental stressors.
